Trail Conditions

February 3, 2012

Partly cloudy skies with daytime highs in the mid 30’s with lows in the upper teens/low 20’s are forecast through the weekend with clearing skies by the end of the weekend with continued mid-30’s daytime temperatures.

Snowmobile Trails

Trails are reported in good to fair condition as road crossings and sun exposed trail sections are showing considerable wear.  While groomers are out, warm temperatures are softening the snow so riders should watch for rough patches and/or developing icy corners. Riders are reminded to stay on the trails and not travel on area lakes until the route across the lake segment has been marked. As conditions can vary greatly on different trail segments across the county, current trail conditions are also available at:

area chamber or local snowmobile club in the location you plan to ride
the Wisconsin Department of Tourism for information by county and reporting entity
Snowtracks.com and check the community information listed on the right

Riders are reminded that updated trail maps are available (for a small donation) at many locations across the county. As always ride safe and ride right.

Cross-Country Ski Trails

Groomed trails are reported in good to very good condition. With anticipated freeze/thaw conditions from the past week expected to continue through the weekend, trail users should watch for developing rough patches and/or icy segments in exposed areas.

As conditions can quickly change on different trail segments, current trail conditions are also available at:

the area chamber in the location you plan to ride
the Wisconsin Department of Tourism for information by county and reporting entity
Several local trails also report on SkinnySki.com (select trails from the top menu, then trail reports from the left-hand menu, then search NE WI)
