4 Reasons to Kick Off the Holidays in Vilas County
Published: November 21, 2017The holidays are right around the corner and the only place we’d want to spend them is in Vilas County with family and friends. We’ve thought about what makes them so special and it was easy! Here’s why…
1. FAMILY TRADITION
Families have been spending the holidays in our neck of the woods for years and years. Nothing beats grandma’s fresh baked pumpkin pie at the cabin!
2. HUNTING
There’s something about the crisp late autumn-early winter Northwoods air that is unparalleled by any. Most hunters say it’s quite ideal for hunting. After all, county forest lands account for more than 245,000 acres of public hunting land in Vilas County (not to brag or anything)!
3. SHOPPING
Not interested in hunting? Don’t worry, we have you covered! The ladies can get a jump start on their holiday shopping lists. Some of the most unique treasures come from the local shops and boutiques in Vilas County! Start tackling your shopping lists at Christmas in Downtown Sayner (Nov. 25-28)!
4. FESTIVALS

Our down home holiday celebrations will make your heart sing, literally! Welcome the holiday season in Boulder Junction at their 29th Annual Christmas Walk (Nov. 24) with carolers, sleigh rides, hot cider and an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus! Don’t miss the Lighting up St. Germain Holiday Celebration (Nov. 25)! Manitowish Waters celebrates the season with Marvel in Manitowish Waters (Dec. 26-31) and so much more!
Really, we could give you a million other reasons, but it’s pretty simple – it’s about the special “moments” that make you feel at home – like being in Vilas County!
