Map - Catherine Wolter Wilderness Area

This wilderness area consists of 2,189 acres of northern forest and 15 lakes and ponds. The lakes and surrounding forests provide habitat for many native plants and wildlife, including loons, osprey, otters, fishers, bear and timber wolves. The preserve is open to the public from sunrise to sunset for hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, birdwatching, and other low-impact recreational activities. Dogs are allowed on the preserve; however, must be leashed from April 1 to August 1.

Mark Musolf Family Trail: 2.8 miles, slightly hilly, easy walk goes around Knife Lake.

The Ripples Trail: 3.1 miles, hilly, some wet areas, goes around the Lower Aimer Lake, John Lake, Bug Lake and Canteen Lake.
