Located in Manitowish Waters, the North Lakeland Discovery Center is a great place to experience—and learn about—the natural wonders of the Northwoods of Wisconsin.

Located on the shores of Statehouse Lake just north of the intersection of County Highway W and Highway 51, the North Lakeland Discovery Center is a non-profit environmental education organization that inspires visitors of all ages through recreational opportunities, nature-based programming and more.

Some of the highlights of the North Lakeland Discovery Center include:

  • Trails: 12 miles of trails are open to everyone for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing; a 22-station Birding Trail highlights species found in the area
  • Events and programs: Nature-based programs for kids and adults, seasonal drop-in activities and more
  • Nature Nook: A nature center that features education, activities and live animals
  • Tadpole Classroom: Outdoor classroom and exhibit space featuring education and activities related to Northwoods lakes
