Near the southern edge of Vilas County in Wisconsin’s Northwoods, motorsports enthusiasts will find a snowmobiler’s dream. The small city of Eagle River is known as the Snowmobile Capital of the World®, boasting hundreds of miles of trails, fun races, derbies and other events, and unique attractions. Here’s a closer look at what snowmobilers can find here.

  • “The Eagle River 500”: Eagle River is home to more than 500 miles of expertly groomed trails maintained by the Sno-Eagles Snowmobile Club. These trails connect to thousands more miles of trails throughout the Northwoods.
  • Snowmobiling events: Every year, Eagle River hosts the World Championship Snowmobile Derby and several other snowmobile events, include races, rallies, guided snowmobile rides and more.
  • World Snowmobile Headquarters: This facility, located next to the World Champion Derby Complex, is home to the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame, museum and a gift shop.
