St. Germain is the home of the authentic northern Wisconsin experience. Here are a few suggestions of what to check out when you’re visiting this Vilas County gem, whether in winter, spring, summer or fall.

  • Snowmobile Hall of Fame and Museum. Any Northwoods resident can tell you that snowmobiling is a vital part of Wisconsin’s winter traditions, and the Snowmobile Hall of Fame and Museum celebrates that tradition year-round. First opened in 1989, the museum features a large collection of historic snowmobiles and other exhibits highlighting the sport’s history in the area.
  • St. Germain Bike & Hike Trail. This 12-mile trail runs throughout St. Germain and connects to 27 miles of Vilas County trails. The trail offers great opportunities for hikers, bikers and birdwatchers, provided some of the prettiest scenery in the Midwest. Free parking is available at Town Park in St. Germain.
  • St. Germain Golf Course. Tree-lined fairways and manicured greens might not be the first thing that springs to mind when you think of Vilas County, but there are more than a dozen courses within a 20-minute of drive of St. Germain. And if you’re staying in town, the 18-hole St. Germain Golf Club, which received a 4.5-star rating from Golf Digest, offers great golf and beautiful scenery all around.
